|Wang Yi Meets with Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi of Japan|
On December 25, 2019, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi of Japan at request. Both sides spoke highly of the important consensus reached by Chinese and Japanese leaders during their meetings, and agreed to consider and plan China-Japan relations with a global vision. Both sides should also abide by the four political documents between China and Japan, consolidate the political foundation of bilateral relations, keep the momentum of improvement and development of bilateral relations and work for China-Japan relations that fit the needs of the new era in a phased way. Toshimitsu Motegi expressed, the Japanese side attaches great importance to and welcome President Xi Jinping's visit to Japan in spring next year, and is ready to make sound preparations and create an enabling atmosphere for it.
Both sides also exchanged views on the Korean Peninsula situation and other topics of common interest.
