Wang Yi: Unilateralism and Bullying Are the Biggest Threats to Peace and Stability in Today's World
2019-12-04

On December 4, 2019, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who was visiting the Republic of Korea (ROK), expressed when meeting with ROK Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha, China and the ROK are close neighbors, friends and partners. In the face of the international situation fraught with uncertainties and the profound changes unseen in a century, we neighbors should strengthen exchanges, enhance cooperation, mutual understanding and support, jointly safeguard our legitimate rights and interests and play a constructive role in regional peace and stability together.

Wang Yi stressed, China always pursues an independent foreign policy of peace, upholds the equality between all countries regardless of the size, upholds democracy in international relations, opposes the practice of the big and strong bullying the small and weak, and rejects the practice of imposing one's will on others and interfering in others' internal affairs. The biggest threat to peace and stability in today's world is that unilateralism undermines the current international order and bullying challenges norms governing international relations. China is willing to work together with all responsible countries, including the ROK, to uphold the vision of multilateralism, adhere to the principle of fairness and justice and make concrete efforts to uphold the international system with the United Nations at its core, the international order underpinned by international law as well as the multilateral trading system centering on the World Trade Organization.
