|Li Keqiang Meets with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc of Vietnam|
On November 3, 2019 local time, Li Keqiang met in Bangkok with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc of Vietnam, who was attending the series of Leaders' Meetings on East Asia Cooperation.
Li Keqiang expressed, China and Vietnam, the two close neighbors, are both emerging economies. It is hoped that the two sides will firmly keep to the general direction of the development of bilateral relations, meet each other halfway, and create a sound atmosphere for the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries next year. Both sides need to manage maritime issues in a proper way, so as to create favorable conditions for more exchanges and cooperation between the two countries. Considering the mounting downward pressure on global economy, East Asian countries should continue to be committed to openness and inclusiveness and focus on cooperation to jointly cope with challenges. The Chinese side is ready to consolidate political mutual trust and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with the Vietnamese side to improve the well-being of the two peoples. The Chinese side supports the Vietnamese side's rotating chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) next year, and is willing to join hands with ASEAN countries to push forward China-ASEAN relations and cooperation in East Asia for greater development.
Nguyen Xuan Phuc congratulated on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. He said, Vietnam pays great attention to developing its relations with China. Vietnam is willing to take the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries next year as an opportunity to enhance high-level exchanges, deepen cooperation in various fields, and properly handle maritime issues through dialogue and communication, so as to advance the continuous and steady development of bilateral relations.
