Li Keqiang praised Federica Mogherini for her active contributions to deepening China-EU relations during her tenure. He expressed, China and the EU share broad common interests. The Chinese side has always supported the process of European integration and hopes to see a united and prosperous EU. The new EU leadership is about to take office. It is hoped that both sides will continue to jointly uphold multilateralism and free trade, respect each other and treat each other as equals, implement the consensus of the 21st China-European Union (EU) Leaders' Meeting, promote an early completion of the negotiations on an agreement of geographical indications and complete the China-EU investment agreement negotiations next year as scheduled. We need to adhere to two-way opening-up and focus on common development. The two sides should intensify communication and coordination on major international and regional issues, and promote China-EU relations and cooperation for new and greater progress.

Federica Mogherini said, leaders of the EU and China held successful meetings in April this year, and the outcomes of the meetings are now being implemented. The year of 2020 will be a significant year for EU-China relations. The new EU institutions will maintain the continuity of their policies towards China and continue to prioritize the relations with China in the EU's foreign policy. The EU side is willing to work with the Chinese side to deepen all-round practical cooperation and strengthen cooperation in global and regional issues such as climate change, the Iranian nuclear issue, Afghanistan and Africa, so as to contribute more to world peace and development.
