Wang Yi On the Three Supports of China's Policy Towards Europe

On October 21, 2019 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi answered a question regarding the China-Europe relations in an exclusive interview with Agence France-Presse in Paris.

Wang Yi expressed, there is no conflict of fundamental interests between China and Europe. We both stand for a multi-polar world and democracy in state-to-state relations, advocate multilateralism and champion the authority and status of the United Nations. In the face of an uncertain and unstable international situation, China and Europe should join hands, strengthen solidarity and cooperation, inject positive energy into the world and be a force for global peace and stability.

Wang Yi said, China's policy towards Europe can be summed up as three supports: support for the European integration process, support for the unity and growth of the European Union, and support for Europe to play a more active role in international affairs. These three supports are not expedient measures, but strategic choices we have made after careful consideration, and will not be affected by any temporary incident. The Chinese side hopes that the European Union will also adopt a more friendly policy towards China.
