|Yang Jiechi Meets with Head of Brazil's Institutional Security Office Augusto Heleno|
On October 18, 2019 local time, Yang Jiechi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, met with Augusto Heleno, Head of Brazil's Institutional Security Office, in Brasilia.
Yang Jiechi said, China and Brazil are both large developing countries and emerging market economies. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 45 years ago, China-Brazil relations have been developing in a sound and steady manner, with fruitful outcomes from practical cooperation across the board, setting a good example of solidarity, cooperation and joint development among major developing countries. The Chinese side always views and develops its relations with Brazil from a strategic and long-term perspective. China is ready to promote the synergy between the Belt and Road Initiative and Brazil's Investment Partnerships Program, step up exchanges in people-to-people and cultural engagement and at local level, and strengthen communication and coordination on international and regional issues, to better benefit the two countries and the two peoples.
Yang Jiechi expressed, at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, President Jair Bolsonaro will pay his first state visit to China. The BRICS Summit will be held in Brasilia next month. The Chinese side will give its full support to the Brazilian side in making the meeting a success and believes that China and Brazil will work together to ensure the success of the meetings between the two heads of state in the next stage, draw a blueprint for the future development of bilateral relations together and upgrade the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
Augusto Heleno said, the Meeting of BRICS High Representatives for Security Issues this time produced broad consensus and enhanced the solidarity and cooperation among the BRICS countries. Brazil attaches great importance to its relations with China. President Jair Bolsonaro will pay his first state visit to China in a few days. The Brazilian side is looking forward to President Xi Jinping's visit to Brazil next month for the BRICS Summit. This fully reflects the high level and special significance of Brazil-China relations. The Brazilian side appreciates the Chinese side's resolute fight against terrorism and will continue to firmly support the Chinese side's position on issues related to Taiwan, Xi Zang and Xinjiang. The Brazilian side is ready to deepen practical cooperation with the Chinese side in trade, infrastructure, agriculture, science and technology and make every effort to consolidate and develop the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
