On September 29, 2019, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended the opening ceremony of an exhibition of archives and documents commemorating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia with Russian Ambassador to China Andrey Denisov at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and officials of the Russian Embassy in China were present.
Wang Yi expressed, we will soon celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Now everywhere in China is full of festive atmosphere and the Chinese people are in high spirits. The Chinese people are celebrating their extraordinary journey over the past 70 years in various forms. Today, we hold an exhibition of archives and documents commemorating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia, and present a gift of China's diplomatic service to the People's Republic of China.
Wang Yi said, we are here to commemorate a special friendship. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Soviet Union was the first to recognize it and extended a helping hand to the People's Republic of China with valuable assistance. At this festive moment, we especially value our friendship tested by adversity.
We are here to commemorate an unforgettable journey. Our two countries have constantly advanced cooperation in various areas and become comprehensive strategic partners of coordination. Successive generations of Chinese and Russian leaders and people from all walks of life have made important contributions to this, and we must pay tribute to them!
We are here to commemorate a new type of relationship. China and Russia have pioneered a new type of state-to-state relations featuring non-alliance, non-confrontation and not targeting any third party, and set an example for international relations.
We are here to commemorate a common responsibility. As permanent members of the United Nations (UN) Security Council and major countries with global influence, both China and Russia shoulder important responsibility for world peace and development. Against the current unstable and uncertain international situation, the two sides should further strengthen coordination and cooperation, and shoulder the common responsibility of safeguarding multilateralism and upholding the purposes of the UN Charter.
Wang Yi said, under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin, China-Russia relations are at their best in history. In June this year, the two heads of state emphatically announced to develop China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era. We will open up a new chapter in bilateral relations.
Afterwards, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Russian Ambassador to China Andrey Denisov and others visited the exhibition of archives and documents. With more than 60 precious archives, charts and entities, the exhibition shows the historical progress and important achievements of China-Russia relations.
